Delicious Burgers in Philly!
If you live in the Philadelphia area and are looking for some delicious, and maybe a little over-the-top, cheeseburgers, then I have just the place for you! It’s called PYT and it’s located in the Northern Liberties section of the city in ‘The Piazza at Schmidt’s’. It is a little lounge, bar, and burger joint all in one. The have a wide variety of imported beers as well as a section on their menu called ‘adult shakes’, which is just what you’d expect it to be; milkshakes with alcohol in them! One of them was even created by ?uestlove of The Roots.
I’m not here to ramble on about their beer and alcohol shakes though. I’m here to tell you about two very tasty cheeseburgers that I tried when I was there. The first burger we will delve into is the ‘Cheesesteak Pretzel Roll Burger’. This is a definite Philly style burger since it is accompanied with Cheesesteak in it! It starts normal enough with a beef patty topped with cheddar cheese. Next, it is topped with a Philly cheesesteak on top ‘wit wiz’! This is a wonderful idea that makes me a little angry I didn’t think of it first. Lastly, also making this a one-of-a-kind Philly treat, is the bun. The bun is in fact a soft pretzel cut in half! It is made specially for this establishment by Philly Pretzel Factory. This is a classic Philadelphia-tasting burger that you must try!
If you’re not impressed with that burger, then have a seat and check out the next burger that I enjoyed at PYT. This one was a special burger of the week when I went. It is called the ‘Krispy Kreme Burger’. Yes, you heard me right. It is a burger, nay, double cheeseburger, that uses a Krispy Kreme donut as the bun. But wait, we’re not done yet. On top of the double cheeseburger lies 2 CHOCOLATE COVERED STRIPS OF BACON! Some of you might be thinking that it sounds way too sweet and sugary with a glazed donut and chocolate on a burger. I thought the same thing before I gave it a try. While it is a little sweet, the burger and bacon give it a nice balance. Your taste buds just go wild. I can sometimes be a picky eater, but I would definitely go back to PYT for just this burger. If you happen to find yourself in the Northern Liberties section of the city you must make a pit stop. Even if you don’t want to tangle with the Krispy Kreme or Cheesesteak Pretzel burgers. They have many other wonderful burgers to try.
