Jackass Star Ryan Dunn Dies in Car Accident
Ryan Dunn, 34, was killed around 3 AM this morning in a car accident on Route 322 in West Goshen Township, PA. This is about 35 miles east of Philadelphia. Dunn and other Jackass member Bam Margera are originally from this area in the city of West Chester. The accident also killed one other person who is yet to be identified. Dunn had just celebrated his 34th birthday on June 11.
It has been reported that Dunn was the driver of his Porsche 911 that went off the road at speeds around 130 mph. They struck a tree and the car then caught fire. The bodies were severely burned and EMT’s had difficulty identifying the bodies. Dunn was identified by his facial hair and tattoos. Hours later a tow truck was called to remove the wreckage. A couple hours before the accident, Dunn had posted a picture to his Twitter account of him and two other friends drinking at a bar. Police have reported that Dunn’s blood alcohol level was .196, more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08. They were also only 100 yards away from Dunn’s friend’s house, which is where they were headed.
This is just horrible news as I am a fan of his work. It is terrible for anyone to die in a car accident when they have been consuming alcohol. There are ways of preventing these types of deaths. It especially makes no sense when the driver is someone of Dunn’s status where I’m sure he had the money to hire a driver, or at least call a taxi to drive him and his friends around. People need to use better judgement when they have been out drinking all night. You just don’t get behind the wheel of a car when you’ve been drinking.
Dunn was most famous for his work on the Jackass TV show, the Jackass movies, and the TV show Viva La Bam. These shows and movies followed around Dunn, Bam, Steve-O, Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Wee-Man, and many others as they performed silly, hilarious, gross, and dangerous stunts. One of Dunn’s more famous stunts included sticking a toy matchbox car into a lubricated condom and placing it in his anus. He was one of my favorites on Jackass and I know that I for one will miss him and his humor. A friend of mine is a bartender in West Chester and has met him on a few occassions. He said that Dunn was just as funny in person as well as a very nice and down to earth guy. He will be missed.
